Special Operations
General Information
The Special Operations Division (SOD) was established in July 2003 for the purpose of homeland security and crisis management.
The Special Operations Division currently has four (4) sections housed within the division:
Function
The function and responsibilities of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division includes, but is not limited to:
- Terrorism prevention and response, along with investigations at all Critical Infrastructure/Key Resource sites throughout St. Charles Parish.
- Implementation and oversight of the Crisis Intervention Team, which focuses on law enforcement interactions with persons suffering from mental illnesses.
- Fugitive Apprehension and Arrest Warrant tracking for warrants issued by the 29th Judicial District Court (St. Charles Parish).
- Investigative Support for all investigative divisions of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office through collaborations with the Criminal Intelligence Center (CIC), located in Jefferson Parish, and the Louisiana State Analytical Fusion Exchange (LA-SAFE), located at Louisiana State Police Headquarters in Baton Rouge, La.
- Drone detection, tactical support, FFL (Federal Firearm License) Investigations, Regional Support and Mutual Aid, and much more.
