Captain Drauzin Kinler resides in Destrehan with his wife Lydia and two children, Landon and Sydney.
Education & Training
In January of 1990, Capt. Kinler attended Louisiana State University P.O.S.T. Academy where he received his Louisiana P.O.S.T certification. He has attended numerous hours of training throughout his law enforcement career some of which include, F.B.I. - Instructor Development Program, Northwestern University Center for Public Safety Motorcycle Instructor, Tulane University – Developing Leadership Training for Law Enforcement, LSU - Traffic Accident Investigations, Leadership I and II, First Line Supervision Leadership and Management Skills, Hazardous Material Technician, MMI – Harley Davidson Technical Training, AAA Driver Improvement Program Instructor, Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings, Law Enforcement Response to WMD Incidents, Emergency Response to Hazardous Material Incidents, Integrated Response to Suspected WMD Cargo, SCSO Ethical Leadership Foundation and Principles, FEMA Communications Unit Leader, and Department of Homeland Security/FEMA -Incident Command System training.
Captain Kinler is the Commander of Strategic Operation Division and the Information Technology Division with duties including the day-to-day operations of Information Technology, Courthouse Security, Graphic Designs and Vehicle Electronics Divisions, Off-duty details, and Motorcycle Division.
Beginning his career in Law Enforcement in August of 1988 with the Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff’s Office, in September 1989, Captain Kinler began employment with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office. Since this time, he has worked in the Corrections Division, Transportation Division and Patrol Division. He served 24 years of his career in the Patrol Division rising through the ranks to a Lieutenant and served as a Watch Commander until October 2014. In October of 2014, Capt. Kinler was transferred to the Information Technology Division as the Director.
In 1999, Captain Kinler took on the additional duties as an Electronics Technician for the Sheriff’s Office and performed this duty on his off days. These duties included the installation of varies types of emergency equipment, mobile video recorders, and computer related equipment in the police vehicles. Captain Kinler also currently serves as a certified Police Motorcycle Instructor (Northwestern University Center for Public Safety) and is a motorcycle mechanic (MMI – Motorcycle Mechanics Institute) for the Sheriff’s Office. To keep abreast of the changing mechanical updates related to Police motorcycles, Captain Kinler has attended numerous classes through Harley Davidson University.
Captain Kinler has received numerous awards and letters of commendation throughout his law enforcement career with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Captain Kinler is a member of the National Sheriff’s Association, Louisiana Sheriff’s Association, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #15 and Police Unity Tour Chapter VIII.
