Home Inspection Program

Overview

Couple outside a burning homeReducing fire and trip hazards in your home could save your property.  The St. Charles Sheriff’s Office Home Inspection Program (H.I.P.) is a voluntary service that provides a free home safety and crime prevention inspection to identify features in your home, which might make a residence susceptible to burglaries, fires, or injuries due to falls.

“Many times we may not recognize potential hazards within the confines of our own home. Having someone independently inspect our property provides greater insight into minimizing potential risk. These inspections will be comprised of Sheriff’s Office personnel and trained firefighters from the local fire departments,” Sheriff Greg Champagne said.

The inspection team will provide the homeowner or occupants recommendations that could be taken to remove or reduce potential hazards.  The services are available to any St. Charles Parish homeowner or renter.  Steps you can take today to make your home safer.
